Camp Recap: Day four - 7/30/18
The Jets were on the field today for their fourth practice. Here were some of the things that happened based on reports from those on site:
- Quarterback Sam Darnold signed his rookie deal right before practice began so was not on the field as the start of the session but took the field at 2:01 p.m.;
- Rookie running back Trenton Cannon continues to impress with his speed but Thomas Rawls fumbled for the second day in a row;
- The offenses were sloppy early on in team periods, with one of Darnold's first passes deflected and intercepted by safety Doug Middleton;
- Practice was halted early on for a team meeting following a series of penalties;
- Josh McCown had a touchdown pass to Clive Walford and Darnold had one to Chris Herndon and one to Quincy Enunwa in red zone work;
- Right tackle Brandon Shell was not practicing;
- Rookie cornerback Parry Nickerson earned some starting reps on defense;
- Defensive front seven standouts included Jordan Jenkins and Dylan Donahue;
- McCown led a nine play touchdown drive against the starting defense, as Jermaine Kearse finished it off with a touchdown catch;
- Teddy Bridgewater's long drive to conclude practice included a nice pass to Andre Roberts and a touchdown to Lucky Whitehead; and
- After practice, Todd Bowles confirmed the Darnold is the number three quarterback for now.
