Camp Recap: Day 17 - 8/14/2018
The Jets were on the field today for another joint practice with Washington in Richmond. Here were some of the things that happened based on reports from those on site:
- This was an unpadded practice;
- Among those not taking part: David Bass, Dimitri Flowers, Cairo Santos, Neal Sterling, Brian Winters, Jonah Trinnaman, Parry Nickerson, Ben Ijalana and Xavier Coleman;
- Trenton Cannon was getting treatment from trainers on the sideline so Thomas Rawls saw a bigger workload;
- Sam Darnold was intercepted as the defensive back jumped a route on a slant to Charone Peake in one on ones;
- For the Jets, Rashard Robinson recorded an interception in one on ones against Josh Doctson. He later broke up a pass in the end zone on 7-on-7's;
- There was plenty of yapping between Terrelle Pryor and the Washington secondary, especially after he had a drop in 7-on-7's. Pryor bounced back with a touchdown after which he walked calmly back to the huddle;
- Darnold did well in red zone 7-on-7's, during which he threw a touchdown to Robby Anderson on a fade;
- Anthony Wint and Terrell Sinkfield intercepted Kevin Hogan on back-to-back plays in 7-on-7's;
- Dakota Dozier was in the middle of the day's first scuffle. Nathan Shepherd was involved in the next one;
- Leonard Williams had a sack in 11-on-11's;
- Working with the ones, Darnold did not have much time in the pocket, although he did scramble for a first down on a broken play. His drive stalled as he was almost intercepted by Ryan Kerrigan;
- The second string defense struggled against the Washington back-ups. Kapri Bibbs had a 30-yard touchdown run;
- Teddy Bridgewater completed a deep ball down the middle to Chad Hansen and also scrambled for a first down;
- Alex Smith moved the ball well against the Jets' starters, although his drive ended with a fourth down incompletion from inside the five following a Trumaine Johnson pass break-up;
- Darnold moved the Jets well on his next drive against the Washington starters, which included consecutive completions to Jordan Leggett and was finished off with a 20-yard post pattern to Clive Walford for the touchdown;
- Washington's back-ups' drive stalled and they settled for a field goal and practice ended soon afterwards; and
- After practice Todd Bowles implied that he was not happy with Pryor discussing his injuries in detail with the media and that he should "leave the injuries to me".
