Brown is a converted wide receiver from James Madison, who played in 14 games for the Bears last season, but did not catch a pass as he was used mostly in a special teams role. However, he has made six starts and caught 35 passes for 317 yards and a touchdown in his career. He caught 29 of those passes on Dowell Loggains' offense with the Bears in 2016 and 2017.
Brown was undrafted in 2015 and has 4.6 speed. The Jets need depth at the tight end position with Eric Tomlinson out of contract, but Brown doesn't really address the need for a blocking tight end so would probably have to beat out Jordan Leggett to win a roster spot.
