Breaking: Jets sign Breshad Perriman
Having lost Robby Anderson, the Jets obviously had a back-up plan lined up:
Former Bucs’ WR Breshad Perriman is signing with the Jets on a one-year deal for worth up to $8 million, including $6 million guaranteed, per @RosenhausSports.

Perriman is a big risk with a potentially high upside. As recently as 2018, the 26-year old former first-round pick was on the streets. The Jets even worked him out and passed on signing him.
However, he played reasonably well in a reserve role with the Bucs last season. Then, right at the end of the year, he stepped in to a starting role due to injury and racked up 506 yards and five touchdowns over the last five games. That was just one yard behind DeVante Parker for the league lead over that span and included three straight 100-yard games - the first of his career - to close the season.
The fact that the Jets have included some incentives in the deal no doubt reflect this fact, but if it's a situation where the lightbulb came on for him at that time - or he was ready to explode but didn't get the targets until he got a decent amount of playing time, then the Jets could profit from this move.
However, if that was just an aberration and a product of Jameis Winston's gunslinging as he sought to rack up stats in his contract year, then his career prior to that point arguably wasn't any better than that of recent futures signing Josh Doctson.
It's a prove-it deal and he should get ample opportunities to prove himself, even if the Jets draft a receiver or two from this year's crop.
