Yes, folks, the Jets officially announced that thing we know they decided on months ago:

For all the fun we've had watching everyone flip out and chase their tails on this one, it's good to finally put this matter to rest.

Hopefully McCown will last a little longer than he has in recent years before he needs to miss any time due to injuries.
