Hackett, whose father Paul had the same role with the Jets from 2001 to 2004, was the Denver Broncos head coach in 2022 but was fired after the team struggled to live up to expectations following a big trade to bring in veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.
He was the Packers' offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021 which could be relevant to the Jets' potential pursuit of Aaron Rodgers.
Carter was fired after five seasons with the Titans. Prior to that he had been in Atlanta with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
