Breaking: Jets claim Ealy on waivers; A. Johnson waived/injured
Here's another somewhat surprising roster move:
NY Jets claimed former Patriots' DE Kony Ealy on waivers, per source.

New England traded a second round pick for Ealy and a future third rounder earlier this year, but waived him a few days ago.
The 25-year old is a former second round pick, best known for his three-sack performance in the Super Bowl at the end of the 2015 season. He looked bound for stardom at that time, but had an inconsistent 2016 season and obviously didn't do much to impress the Patriots after the trade.
It was already seeming like the Jets were going to struggle to find room for all their defensive linemen. If Ealy is a part of their future plans, then maybe they're going to play some more 4-3 and put him at defensive end. Alternatively, maybe it's a precursor to a trade.
Interestingly, Ealy is Sheldon Richardson's cousin. Ironically, Richardson would be the most likely to depart if there was a trade looming.
UPDATE: The Jets announced the move, confirming that Anthony Johnson has been waived/injured. He suffered a stinger on his first snap in last week's game.
We'll have a full scouting report on Ealy on Tuesday.
